The Mini R50 marked the beginning of a new era for the brand. Its success quickly gave rise to the convertible models (R52) and a sportier Cooper S version (R53), which helped to assert the sporty and playful character of the Mini. These three versions share a common DNA: an iconic design, dynamic road handling and extensive customization.
The main distinction between the R52 and R53 models is their bodywork: one is a convertible and the other a hatchback.

Arriving in 2002, the Mini Cooper S R53 takes the basics of the conventional Mini Cooper by adopting a slightly sportier look and revised engines, notably with a 4-cylinder 1600 rpm engine. cm3 developing 163 hp thanks to its compressor.
Several variants and finishes are available for the Mini R53: Cooper S, (163 or 170 hp) or JCW (200 or 210 hp). Also available in GP version (2000 examples only), this version was a lighter version of the JCW, with 2 seats and a block pumped up to 218 hp, marking the end of this R50 generation.

Launched in 2004, the R52 marks the comeback of the Mini. It is distinguished by a rounder design and circular headlights. The engines are mainly from the BMW range, offering a compromise between performance and driving pleasure.
